Senior / Research Scientist - Antibody Discovery & Engineering | Interim | Monoclonal Antibodies | 12 months

Your new company

A global biopharmaceutical leader is looking for an experienced laboratory-based scientist to join their Antibody Drug Discovery & Development team. This department is responsible for developing and validating new sequence-based antibody design approaches. This is a lab-based role, so it will require extensive knowledge of molecular biology and microbiological methods alongside a track record of protein engineering / antibody discovery. This will be a 12-month contract joining their site in Slough. This company commits its work to improving the lives of people living with severe neurological and immunological conditions with a strong focus on research and teamwork.

Your new role

  • Take a pivotal role in discovering therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, supporting UCB’s research initiatives and benefitting patients with serious conditions.
  • Employ state-of-the-art yeast display methods to identify and enhance human antibodies tailored to therapeutic needs.
  • Design, build, and implement selections using unique synthetic display libraries for computational antibody discovery and enhancement projects.
  • Prepare and analyse next-generation sequencing (NGS) libraries to facilitate the identification and development of key antibody molecules.
  • Collaborate with computational and CADD scientists to create and apply AI/Deep learning solutions and structure-based techniques for antibody discovery and engineering.
  • Assist in the creation and adoption of new methods in antibody display and engineering.
  • Work seamlessly across various teams to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Present research findings at interdisciplinary team meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent) with expertise in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, particularly within the antibody field.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with in vitro display libraries for discovery, affinity maturation, or protein engineering, including structure or deep sequence-guided insights.
  • Demonstrate experience with biochemical techniques for macromolecule characterisation such as flow-cytometry, surface plasmon resonance, or Bio-layer interferometry.
  • Proficient in informatics and computational platforms such as molecular visualisation and next-generation sequencing data analysis.
  • Highly motivated with exceptional attention to detail and strong critical data analysis skills.
  • Reliable in meeting deadlines with a trusted ability to deliver results.

What you'll get in return

  • Excellent opportunity to join a leading biopharmaceutical company and make meaningful contributions in the field of antibody discovery and engineering
  • Competitive rates of pay
