AZ urgently require an interim scientist in their compound management team based at the DISC in Cambridge.

Location – Cambridge, UK (DISC)

Duration – 12 months

As a Research Scientist in the Compound Management department you will be responsible for the storage and timely provision of chemical compounds to AstraZeneca’s drug discovery projects.

Highly automated systems will be employed to supply small molecules and larger biological modalities to AstraZeneca scientists and partner organisations.

You will be a member of the Discovery Sciences organisation, operating within a first-class scientific environment to support drug discovery across each of AstraZeneca’s Therapeutic Areas.

Working collaboratively within a Compound Management team, you will deliver to agreed service levels with a strong customer focus, while contributing to the continuous improvement of our industry-leading capability.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Working as part of a team to deliver research compounds in the requested format and to agreed timelines.
  • Managing customer orders using specialized informatics systems and responding to queries via email.
  • Interacting with Compound Management globally and collaborators to process global orders.
  • Performing experiments to investigate process improvements and new technologies.
  • Maintaining awareness of advances in Compound Management.
  • Ensuring your own work and that of your colleagues is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards.
Minimum Requirements:
A level 6 or above, higher education qualification in a scientific/engineering area or equivalent experience
For example: Bachelor's degrees, Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, Graduate diplomas, BTEC Advanced Professional diplomas, certificates and awards, degree apprenticeship)
  • Passion for working with high throughput liquid handling workflows on fully integrated automation platforms
  • Relevant lab-based experience in a scientific or engineering setting
  • Experience working with high throughput integrated automation platforms
Proven ability with
experience in a similar role,
ideally
within pharmaceuticals, biotech or diagnostics industry, but
candidates
with a relevant academic background would be considered
