SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) job within an Autism Specialist School

An Autism Specialist all through school is wanting to hire an SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team permanently starting mid-November. They are seeking a compassionate, patient, and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Their ethos is dedicated to providing quality education and support to students with complex needs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities for individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupils’ progress.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student’s development.
  • Direct the work of other adults in supporting learning activities.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with students with ASD in the UK.
  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • A proactive and caring attitude.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in planning and delivering lessons.

Environment:
  • Class size ranges between 8 and 12 students.
  • Between 2 and 4 adults per class, depending upon the needs of pupils and their EHCPs.
  • Working day is 08:30am to 3:30pm (Fridays until 4:15pm).
  • A caring team of adults with a shared ethos of empathy to improve the lives of the students.
