Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant Role in Torfaen.

Your new School
Hays are recruiting a Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant / Special Needs Educational Support Worker within the Cwmbran area of Torfaen County for a Special Educational Needs School which caters for pupils aged 16 – 25, the majority of which possess ASD, Asperger's, or a related additional learning need. The role shall involve working alongside a fellow Educational Support Worker / Learning Support Assistant, as well as a Teacher / Tutor. The majority of students are aged 16-19 and are very well-behaved. Your role will largely consist of offering both academic and emotional support. The school takes great care in creating a supportive and inclusive environment from the top down, with clear communication between the teaching staff and leadership team. The school is eager to expand their staff team with the introduction of passionate, hardworking, caring, and personable individuals. Your new role.
The role is confirmed long-term for an immediate start, working 3-4 days a week. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
  • Working with small groups of students aged 16-25 with additional learning needs.
  • Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the children.
  • Ensuring that the students are supported, cared for, and engaged throughout the school day.
  • Assisting teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
  • Working closely as part of a team with other members of the teaching staff.


What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 – 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include enthusiasm, calmness, dedication, patience, and the ability to problem-solve effectively when working under pressure.
This role requires a children and adults barred list check DBS.
