We are a vibrant all-through school committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for students from early years to secondary education. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic SENCO to lead our SEN provision and ensure that all students with special educational needs to receive the highest quality support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead SEN Strategy:
Develop and implement the school's SEN strategy and policy, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. - Coordinate SEN Support:
Oversee the identification, assessment, and provision for students with SEN across all key stages. - Support and Develop Staff:
Provide training, guidance, and support to teachers and support staff on effective SEN strategies and interventions. - Individual Education Plans (IEPs):
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create and review IEPs tailored to each student's needs. - Monitor and Evaluate:
Regularly monitor the progress of SEN students, using data to inform and adjust support strategies. - Liaise with External Agencies:
Work closely with educational psychologists, health professionals, and other external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students. - Promote Inclusive Practices:
Foster an inclusive school culture where all students feel valued and supported.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS):
Essential for this role. - Extensive SEN Experience:
Significant experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally across multiple key stages. - Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with strong organisational and time-management skills. - Excellent Communication:
The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies. - Commitment to Inclusion:
A deep commitment to promoting inclusive education and supporting the needs of all students. - Relevant Qualifications:
Additional qualifications in SEN (e.g., NASENCO award) are highly desirable.
