Your new role

Lead on the strategic direction and development of the Barbican’s digital marketing strategy, communication channels and platforms across website, email, digital advertising and on-site digital display; identify opportunities to initiate new projects, partnerships and innovations; and be the digital lead to support the development of the overarching brand, messaging and positioning of the Barbican.

Duties:

Digital Marketing Strategy
  • Lead digital marketing, email, and website activities.
  • Ensure Barbican's leadership in the arts sector.
  • Identify and propose solutions for digital marketing gaps.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Marketing on the digital strategy.
  • Participate in the Digital Strategy Group.
  • Advise other departments on digital opportunities.

Web Development
  • Own the website roadmap and lead new functionality development.
  • Work with the in-house team to improve the web platform.

Social Media & Content
  • Collaborate with the Social Media & Content Manager to align strategies.

Campaign Marketing
  • Provide strategic advice to art form marketing teams.
  • Ensure campaigns are engaging and integrated with offline activities.
  • I worked with the media agency on digital media planning and creative development.

Other Duties
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and policies.
  • Implement health, safety, and equal opportunity policies.
  • Do other duties as requested.

What you'll need to succeed


  • Digital Marketing Experience: Proven experience in digital marketing within the arts, retail, entertainment, hospitality, or related sectors.
  • CRM and Loyalty Strategies: Proven experience managing CRM and loyalty strategies in complex organisations.
  • Digital Communication: Significant experience managing email, websites, and social media communications, ensuring cohesive brand messaging.
  • Strategic Development: Experience of developing digital marketing strategies that support organisational objectives and increase traffic and revenue.
  • Digital Products Management: Significant experience in developing, delivering, and managing digital products and strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Content and UX Expertise: High-level knowledge in content architecture, UX, accessibility, content strategy, user testing, and evaluation.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Ability to devise metrics and produce evidence-based recommendations for digital plans and strategies.
  • Trend Monitoring: Ability to monitor trends and innovations in digital products, marketing, and services to inform strategic development.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills with experience in line management and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term, data-informed digital marketing strategies.
  • Budget Management: Experience of managing budgets.
