Your new company

A local authority based in the East Midlands is looking to expand their environmental team.

They have an established environmental team who help to deal with statutory nuisance complaints, pollution control, environmental permitting, contaminated land investigation. They are involved in a range of high-profile and interesting projects.

Your new role

This role will involve supporting a wider team in order to deliver projects efficiently. Main duties will vary depending on experience, but they could involve:

  • Advise on complex environmental permits.
  • Conduct contaminated land inspection / site investigation
  • Provide training and mentorship to more junior staff
  • Work in line with the council's enforcement policy
  • Assist the environmental health manager in adhering to contracts
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Collect samples and undertake monitoring
  • Taking part in the public protection out of hours scheme
  • Giving advice to stakeholders and officers within the council
  • Provide cover and assistance to the Environmental Health manager
  • Represent the committee as required during internal and external meetings


What you'll need to succeed

Must have:
  • An Environmental Health degree or similar
  • 3 years experience in a relevant role
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and enforcement procedures

Desirable:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Achieved or be willing to achieve the Certification in Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control (IPPC)

  • Achieved or be willing to achieve the Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control Measurement (Institute of Acoustics)

  • Successfully complete the relevant qualifications and be EHRB registered.

  • Managerial experience

  • Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and enforcement procedures
