Fully remote VAT specialist required for a global oil and gas business. Initially offered on a 12m FTC
Your new company
I'm working on an exclusive basis with this global oil and gas business. Due to someone going on maternity leave there is now a need to recruit someone on an initial 12m FTC.
Your new role
This role will require someone who can hit the ground running and therefore sector experience would be preferred although it is not a pre-requisite. Core responsibilities will include:
● Support the review of excise tax returns for various countries across the EMEA region;
● Assist with managing EMEA region VAT/Customs compliance for various entities;
● Assist with managing and maintaining indirect tax and customs processes;
● Support to manage relationships with third party service providers and tax/customs authorities across EMEA region;
● Assist with advising in a pro-active manner on excise tax related matters to various business units within the company (Supply Chain, Sales department, customer service
team);
● Showing an interest in taxation/customs and be pro-active in staying on top of new tax and customs developments;
● Review of Account Payable (AP) and Account Receivables (AR) invoices required for relief and recovery of VAT;
● Ensure that VAT payments are made and received on time and any issues are dealt with;
● Reconciliation of VAT ledger with VAT reports and VAT returns;
● Support the management of the indirect tax aspects of external tax audits across EU;
● Provide ad hoc support to other VAT team members where required.
What you'll need to succeed
● Background in accounting or taxation;
● 3-5 years of work experience in dealing with European/EMEA VAT issues;
● Customs excises duties experience and awareness is preferable but not essential;
● Experienced in working with Oracle and Excel.
Intuitively, the ideal candidate will be a proactive, engaged individual who can solve problems through commercial and research based touch points. Furthermore the individual will be:
● A team player with an independent and flexible work attitude;
● Ready to adapt to international practices;
● Confident in communicating with others;
● Able to solve problems creatively and pragmatically;
● Strong analytical and numeracy skills;
● Interested in VAT & Customs and wants to develop further in the field;
● Excellent in English (corporate language) writing and speaking with the ability to present complex subject matter clearly.
