Your new company

Birmingham City Council are seeking 3 experienced qualified Social Workers to join the Early Intervention Community Team (EICT).

Your new role

Birmingham City Council are looking to recruit experienced Social Workers to work within a strong Early Intervention Community Team. The Early Intervention programme was established in late 2018 in response to a system-wide diagnostic and a Care Quality Commission (CQC) review of the health and social care provision for older people in Birmingham. The programme aims to provide a range of targeted interventions:
  • Promoting faster recovery from illness or injury
  • Preventing unnecessary hospital admission and premature admission to long-term residential care
  • Supporting timely discharge from hospital and maximising independent living.

As a social worker, you will have knowledge in management of a complex caseload, good knowledge of safeguarding MCA and Best Interests decision-making.
We are also looking for someone who can commence working with us quite quickly for a 3-month contract in the first instance, with the potential to be ongoing for the right candidate. You will be working at one of the EICT locations in Birmingham along with home working.

Working Hours: 8:30am - 5pm (Mon - Thurs) and 8:30am - 4:30pm (Friday).
Hybrid Working: 2 days in office per week. You will be required to attend the office for meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, you will need to
  • Have a recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW)
  • Social Work England registration
  • 1 year post-qualifying experience.
  • Previous experience working within Social Work adults services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Engage in reflective supervision, peer support, and relevant training.
