Teaching Assistant - Rotherham - KS2

Position: KS1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Type: Long Term Temporary

Hays Education South Yorkshire is seeking to appoint a full-time KS1 Teaching Assistant for a primary school in the Rotherham area.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a KS1 class on a full-time basis until the end of the academic year. This role is ideal for a Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant who can commit to the position for the entire academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consistent support to KS1 children within the classroom.
  • Engage children with educational activities and manage transitions.
  • Monitor and support children’s safety, assisting with self-care tasks.
  • Set up a range of engaging activities around the national curriculum.
  • Promote the use of the Read Write Inc phonics scheme, supported by the class teacher.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children in a primary setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner.
  • Commitment to providing consistent and reliable support.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare, or referenceable experience within the last two years.
  • Experience delivering phonics support.
