We recognise that it can be challenging to secure a job in a school, for people who may not have relevant or recent experience. A career as a cover supervisor can be very rewarding and can open up a wealth of opportunities to progress your career. You may be interested in becoming a teacher in the future, securing a role as a Cover supervisor could be the first step to achieving your ambitions. Our Cover Supervisor Direct programme is launching in March, and we have a very limited number of places available with reputable secondary schools across Kirklees, who have partnered with us and are keen to support people into the profession with school-based and online training.

We are looking for people who may possess one or more of the following:

Has cared for a child with SEN or additional needs.
Has worked within an adult or child-care setting.
Has been a Teaching Assistant or cover supervisor in the past and is looking to return.
Has worked in the Police, NHS, Care homes, healthcare etc.

What the course entails:

A two-day unpaid training placement within a secondary school in Huddersfield.
Online training modules to complete.
Full Safeguarding Training (online).
On successful completion of the 2 day course, you will then be able to work as a cover supervisor in school.
As a Cover Supervisor, your role will be to manage classrooms, deliver pre-set lessons, and maintain a positive and productive learning environment during the absence of the regular teacher. You will play a crucial role in ensuring continuity for students and supporting the wider school staff.

What you will need:

A passion for supporting children within education.
A wiliness to go above and beyond to help a child achieve.
A good level of literacy and numeracy.
Strong communication skills.
Previous experience of working with children is desirable but not essential.
