Your new company

Your new company is looking for an experienced operational Buyer with a passion for ensuring a seamless procurement process and to play a pivotal role in driving supplier performance, enhancing procurement strategies and delivering operational excellence.

Your new role

  • Research, identify and onboard, reliable suppliers for materials, services and components
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals
  • Evaluate supplier performance to ensure timely delivery, quality, and compliance with standards
  • Place orders in a timely manner to meet production deadlines
  • Analyse market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure that purchased materials and components meet quality specifications and industry standards
  • Visit supplier facilities when needed to assess their quality control practices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster long-term partnerships
  • Resolve disputes or issues with suppliers, including late deliveries or quality problems
  • Work closely with other internal departments to align procurement activities with financial, commercial and operational needs

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong understanding of building maintenance services and subcontractor markets.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate supplier performance against KPIs and SLAs.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement regulations, compliance, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent presentation skills to senior teams
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on cost control and value delivery.
  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), are desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant building maintenance regulations and standards (e.g., UK health and safety requirements).
  • Experience in supplier tendering, contract negotiation, and performance management.
