Local Authority - Birmingham City Council - Estate Caretaker - Maintenance work - ASAP start - Temporary role

Your new company

Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit a number of Caretakers to support their neighbourhood team. Your new role

You will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of care-taking, cleaning, health and safety and maintenance services across 3 specified areas. This will include the cleaning of internal and external communal areas of high-rise blocks within the area. You will also be providing assistance to customers relating to general housing-related queries, liaising with Neighbourhood Caretakers, District Neighbourhood Caretakers and other BCC colleagues. You will also, on occasion, be asked to operate the tipping vehicle if you hold a full clean UK driving license (training will be provided) and if this isn't the case, you may be asked to help unload and load heavier materials onto the tipper vehicle. There is also an expectation to keep the refuse area as clean and tidy as possible.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to have had previous experience in a similar job role and be able to take care of any tasks required to ensure the running of the service, including carrying out cleaning, health & safety, maintenance and safety checks. Within this role, you will need to use your initiative and be able to identify hazards and resolve them.

What you'll get in return

You will be paid an hourly rate of £14.12 per hour PAYE (£12.60 basic) guaranteed full-time hours, with further opportunities and a potential for permanent positions. As a Hays contractor, you will have a dedicated consultant who will support you throughout the recruitment process as well as whilst you are at work. You will be given access to our training platform, where you can assign yourself to free online training to enhance your own skills.
