Your new company

We are currently working with a public sector organisation to recruit a Contract Manager for their Strategic Procurement team. You'll be joining an organisation that plays a key role in delivering services to the local community and a team that ensures these services operate efficiently and to high standards.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, your main focus will be leading the organisation's approach to contract management. By working closely with stakeholders, service leads, and the procurement team, you'll oversee the development of the contract management strategy and best practices, helping to drive value across the organisation's services.

Additionally, you'll govern a portfolio of corporate contracts to gain increased value from suppliers, mitigate risk, and control overall spend. These contracts will not have a set category but will focus on some of the larger, lengthy, and critical contracts for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of contracts across various categories, ensuring value and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee complex contract negotiations and reviews at renewal points.
  • Create contract KPIs, conduct quality reviews, and manage relationships to ensure service quality.
  • Develop and implement financial controls.
  • Create the organisation's contract management strategy, best practices, and training approach.
  • Lead engagement with senior stakeholders and service leads, aiming to create a contracts register.
  • Act as the contract management lead, providing commercial advice where necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of contract management frameworks.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A relevant degree or procurement & supply chain qualification (CIPS) or equivalent experience.
  • A broad understanding of public sector procurement and PCR 2015.
  • Proven experience in a Contract Manager role.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management skills.
  • An understanding of contract law and regulations.

What you'll get in return

  • A salary of up to £49,498.
  • A hybrid working pattern: twice a month in the Bristol office and ad-hoc visits (Bristol area).
  • Competitive public sector pension.
  • Generous holiday allowance.
  • Annual salary reviews in line with bandings.
  • Continued learning and development, qualification sponsorship, retail discounts, MOT discounts, and more.
