Hays Technology is proud to be working in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) who are looking to appoint a Senior Projects Engineer to join their Shared ICT team.
SBC serves as the local authority for Stevenage, a vibrant town in Hertfordshire, England. Established in 1974, the council has been under Labour control since its inception, reflecting a commitment to community-focused governance.
Would you like to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their IT infrastructure? This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional who is passionate about technology and dedicated to enhancing community services through innovative IT solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and design new technologies and upgrades to existing systems, particularly around Microsoft 365 and VDI solutions.
- Create and implement IT policies and standards.
- Lead and manage major incidents, providing troubleshooting and resolution without extensive direction.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Work with third-party experts and internal teams to design and implement solutions.
- Take ownership of enterprise technologies and ensure their optimal performance.
- Stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team.
- Participate in change management processes, including risk assessment and mitigation.
- Support the infrastructure team in various capacities, including on-premises and cloud technologies.
Key Technologies:
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)
- VDI solutions (VMware Horizon, Intune)
- VMware vSphere
- Pure Storage
- Azure services
- General core infrastructure (Active Directory, Entra, backup and recovery)
Requirements:
- Proven track record of planning, designing, and implementing IT solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365 and VDI solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle major incidents independently.
- Experience working with project managers and leading projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to drive and occasionally work on-site as required.
- Enthusiastic and proactive attitude, with a desire to grow and take on new challenges.
