Senior Electrical Design Engineer role, salary up to £55K
Your new company
You'll be working for a successful international Building Services Contractor based in Edinburgh, who are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team. This consultancy works on a variety of projects across Scotland's Central Belt as well as UK and Ireland wide, operating across the commercial, residential, Industrial, and more.
Your new role
You'll play a key part in the Electrical design team and will be expected to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems .
- Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
- Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc.
- Representing the organization at meetings with clients and contractors.
- Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
- Report and technical note writing.
- Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
- Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering on Building Services projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and building codes.
- Experience working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design environment is essential.
- Have a detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
