Role Overview

This role is project-focused, with minimal BAU tasks. As the IT infrastructure engineer, you'll guide technology design decisions and manage risks to ensure smooth infrastructure services. You'll collaborate with Project Managers, using project management tools to plan and deliver projects. Expertise in Core Infrastructure, EUC, or Microsoft 365 is essential, as you'll act as the SME in your chosen area.


Your responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, HLD/LLD design, and risk assessment of new projects and technologies.

  • Plan and design new technologies and upgrades to existing systems, particularly around Microsoft 365 and VDI solutions.

  • Create and implement IT policies and standards.

  • Lead and manage major incidents, providing troubleshooting and resolution without extensive direction.

  • Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Work with third-party experts and internal teams to design and implement solutions.

  • Participate in change management processes, including risk assessment and mitigation.

  • Support the infrastructure team in various capacities, including on-premises and cloud technologies.

  • Develop and implement policies and standards for Microsoft 365, including creating new policies and troubleshooting major incidents.

  • Design and implement VDI solutions, both on-premises and in the cloud.

  • Support all technologies within the team, working with third-party experts for design and implementation.

  • Act as the SME for given technology areas, proactively leading projects and handing them off to the BAU team once completed.

    What you'll need to succeed
  • Project-Based Experience: Extensive experience in planning, designing, and implementing IT solutions, particularly in project-based roles.

  • Technical Design Experience: Exposure to designing LLD/HLD

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of key technologies, including Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), VDI solutions (VMware Horizon, Intune), VMware vSphere, Pure Storage, Azure services, and general core infrastructure (Active Directory, Entra, backup and recovery).

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to handle major incidents independently, providing troubleshooting and resolution without extensive direction.

  • On-Site Flexibility: Ability to drive and occasionally work on-site if required, supporting the infrastructure team in various capacities, including on-premises and cloud technologies.

  • Collaboration Skills: Proven experience working with project managers, leading projects, and working with third-party experts and internal teams to design and implement solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage project delivery and team collaboration.

  • Proactive Attitude: Enthusiastic and proactive, with a desire to grow, take on new challenges, and stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices.

  • Risk and Change Management: Ability to evaluate and manage risks, participate in change management processes, and ensure minimal impact on infrastructure services.
