Are you a skilled Estimator ready to take on new construction projects in London? Our client, a Main Contractor, is on the lookout for an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team. If you have a keen eye for detail, a passion for accuracy, and the ability to produce competitive tenders, this opportunity could be perfect for you.

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in ensuring that tenders are not only accurate and detailed but also competitive and timely. Your meticulous approach and strong relationships with clients, will help secure ongoing work and reinforce our client's reputation.


Your new role

Main Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and analyse tender documentation to identify business implications.

  • Provide detailed “take-off” and Bill of Quantities (BQ) for various contracts.

  • Oversee and complete quote analysis comparisons and select quotes for inclusion in priced tenders.

  • Arrange site inspections, record notes, and take photographs to inform tender pricing.

  • Assess, amend, and create new rates and prices based on material and subcontract quotes.

  • Build allowances for each project and determine construction periods with Contracts Managers.

  • Prepare tender build-ups and participate in tender review meetings with key stakeholders.

  • Collate tender information and complete written reports for handover meetings.

  • Participate in pre-tender and post-tender meetings, presenting and answering questions on cost and value engineering exercises.

  • Support other estimators in pricing tenders and providing budget costings.

  • Mentor technical trainees and assist in the selection of materials and subcontractors.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills

  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
