Facilities Assistant

Your new company

A client of ours is looking for a Facilities Assistant to join their already-established facilities team on a permanent basis. They are a pioneering organisation which has been presenting contemporary art since 1970. From its main venue to various exhibitions, it champions new ideas in art and architecture. It hosts a free programme of exhibitions, architecture, education, and live events. The programme takes place across multiple locations and online.

Your new role

To undertake daily maintenance of Serpentine South and North and ensure both sites are excellently presented, and health and safety requirements are upheld. These include the following on a day-to-day basis:

  • Health and Safety

  • Security

  • Office Maintenance

  • Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Events and private hire

General duties consist of:

  • Be a champion for Arts Council England’s Inclusivity and Relevance Investment Principle to ensure best practice through a proactive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Adhere and actively contribute to all Serpentine policies, including Dignity at Work and Health & Safety.
  • Any other activities are necessary for the operation of the Facilities Team and its strategic objectives.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in providing facilities support for both soft and hard services

  • An understanding of health and safety requirements with an ability to identify building concerns

  • Excellent verbal communication skills to collaborate and liaise with various departments

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • A flexible, reliable and conscientious approach to work

  • IT kills and use of Microsoft Office software

  • Availability to work unsociable hours when required, including weekends, evenings and public holidays

  • A first aid qualification or willingness to undertake training

  • A health and safety qualification (NEBOSH and ISOH) would be an added benefit
