Hay recruitment are working with a reputable public sector organisation that is on the lookout for an Assistant Accountant. This temporary role, lasting a minimum of 3 months, offers the exciting potential to become permanent for the right candidate. This role will be based in Preston, full-time onsite but provides flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
Your new role
Within your new role, you will engage in a variety of financial tasks, supporting management accounting services for the Executive Board and authorities, including statutory and financial statements and VAT returns. You will be responsible for collaborating with the Financial Accountant to prepare evidence for internal and external audits and will play a key role in capital accounting and the monthly reconciliation of the company bank account, including recording income and expenditure and performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations. You will contribute to treasury management activities, including daily cashflow management for the business. You will so assist in raising debtor invoices, ensuring correct VAT treatment, as well as generating ad-hoc reports for the Head of Finance and Financial Accountant as needed. Also within your role, you will provide cover for colleagues in matters related to petty cash, support the management, reconciliation and process ad-hoc invoices.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need relevant experience in a similar role and be AAT qualified. Excellent communication skills and show dedication to personal growth.
