Finance Consultancy Officer | 6 month Temporary
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Finance Consultancy Officer to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the consultancy business, acting as a primary contact for academic staff and external clients. This position involves managing a portfolio of complex, high-value Knowledge Transfer (KT) and consultancy grants, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with sponsor rules and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact for academic staff and external customers regarding consultancy activities.
- Manage the Faculty's portfolio of KT and consultancy grants, ensuring financial information is accurate and consistent.
- Maximise the use of standard terms and conditions for consultancy agreements.
- Review and liaise on terms and conditions of KT grants with the central contracts team.
- Provide advice on costing and pricing of consultancy work, issue quotations, and facilitate acceptance.
- Prepare costings for KT proposals and provide expert advice on funder terms and conditions.
- Ensure all applications are authorised prior to external submission.
- Support the completion of sponsor submission systems for KT grants.
- Set up accounts for consultancy contracts and KT awards, working with finance managers.
- Provide expertise in post-award management of consultancy and KT contracts/awards.
- Compare KT awards to original applications and identify variations.
- Provide regular budgetary reports and financial transaction processing.
- Maintain accurate records for all consultancy contracts and KT applications/awards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of academic expertise.
- Liaise with KT sponsors, collaborators, and consultancy clients.
- Resolve day-to-day problems and implement changes to work processes as needed.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- GCSEs in Mathematics and English Language (A to C) or equivalent.
- Experience working in a busy finance office environment
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads, working to tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications, particularly Excel.
- Enthusiastic, committed, and proactive approach.
- Keen to develop new skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with finance systems and procedures.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Previous experience in contract negotiation and administration.
