Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted-rated "Good" SEN school in St Helens that supports pupils with a variety of SEN (special educational needs) from EYFS - KS4 as they are looking to appoint motivated and reliable teaching assistants to support across the school on a long-term full-time temporary basis. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join an extremely supportive team of educational professionals with applications being considered from experienced teaching assistants and those looking to gain more invaluable experience with SEN.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining an extremely supportive and welcoming team of education professionals, and you will have the opportunity to support pupils on a 1:1 and group basis in a number of different year groups across EYFS to KS4 . You will work alongside class teachers and other teaching assistants to deliver an engaging, stimulating and engaging learning environment for all pupils. Each pupil within this school has SEN and an individual EHCP, with needs consisting of a variety of complex to moderate SEN. Due to this, you will be required to take a pupil-centred approach to education, ensuring that the individual needs of the pupil you are supporting is at the heart of all operations. Typically, SEN within the school consists of ASD, LD, ADHD, non-verbal & speech delay, behavioural needs and sensory needs with typical duties consisting of SALT, interventions, boosters and positive behaviour support.


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work in the UK" as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children and young people within a classroom or residential environment, as well as:

  • Experience supporting SEN is preferred
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
