We are currently looking for a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the team at HMP Full Sutton in North Yorkshire.
Role Overview:
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all electrical systems at HMP Full Sutton are maintained to the highest standards. You will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to a variety of electrical systems across the site. This role requires a hands-on, proactive individual with strong technical skills and the ability to work within a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Systems Maintenance: Conduct planned and reactive maintenance of electrical systems including lighting, fire alarms, emergency lighting, distribution boards, and more.
- Fault Diagnosis & Repairs: Identify and resolve faults within the electrical infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient repairs.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, electrical standards, and company procedures.
- On-Call: Participate in the on-call rota, being available for emergency response outside of regular working hours.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and facilities teams to deliver effective maintenance and improve system reliability.
- Customer Communication: Maintain strong communication with site managers and staff to ensure smooth operations and minimal disruption during maintenance work.

Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience in electrical maintenance, ideally in a commercial, industrial, or secure environment.
- Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing or equivalent (desirable).
- ECS/CSCS Card (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in a prison or secure environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Skills: Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
- Health & Safety: Sound understanding of health and safety practices in the workplace.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is required.
