6 month fixed term Payroll Administrator to start asap

Your new organisation
You will be working for a well-established, successful organisation near Sherborne with an excellent reputation within their sector. They are a centre of excellence, with a strong sense of ethical, moral, environmental and social responsibility as their core values. They are looking to appoint a Payroll Administrator on a 6-month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours per week, to become part of their team.

Your new role
The core of this role as a Payroll Administrator will be to support the Senior Payroll Assistant to accurately process and manage employee payroll data for approx 1000 monthly paid employees. This will be a great role to further develop your payroll skills and take on more senior payroll responsibilities.
  • Preparing and issuing necessary payroll documentation such as payslips, P45s, P60s and BACS payment requests
  • Ensuring that PAYE, NI, pensions and other charges are correctly deducted and remitted to the appropriate agencies
  • Reconciling and managing all payroll related control accounts in the nominal ledger, including posting transfers and journals and preparing any reports required
  • Filing P45s and Starter Check Lists online and downloading tax code changes from the HMRC website, implementing changes as appropriate
  • Supporting with all payroll related queries and liaising directly with employees regarding these queries, including correspondence where appropriate
  • Responsibility for keeping accurate records and details, particularly regarding sickness absence

What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience of assisting with processing a monthly payroll.
  • The proven ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Well-developed IT skills, including the use of internal systems for inputting and reporting, MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with the finance team and across the wider organisation.
  • Effective time management, with the flexibility to adapt to the changing payroll deadlines each month.
