Your new role

Hays Procurement are excited to be assisting in the recruitment of an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager. As Procurement Manager, you will initially focus on gaining a deep understanding of the business and its stakeholders. From there, you’ll take the lead in developing a procurement strategy aimed at achieving cost savings and enhancing supplier contract management.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the management team, playing a key part in setting up and refining procurement processes. Your contribution will be vital to the team and instrumental to the business’s overall success. No two days will be identical, but you can expect a varied workload. A typical day might involve identifying and assessing potential suppliers, ensuring they meet our standards for quality, cost, delivery, and financial stability. You’ll also maintain regular communication with key suppliers to nurture strong relationships, encourage collaboration, and resolve any issues swiftly. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with other departments to streamline operations, minimise waste, and address any bottlenecks in the process.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this position, you’ll bring a proven track record of delivering procurement services. You’ll be comfortable communicating with colleagues at all levels of the business and adept at building lasting relationships. Ideally, you’ll have some experience in a manufacturing / production-focused environment, along with excellent organisational, numeracy, and IT skills. Ideally, you will have experience in heavy industry or engineering industries, with CIPS being desirable but not essential.

The role will suit a highly experienced buyer or standalone procurement professional who has the experience to set up a procurement function from scratch.
