Widnes, Halton. Secondary School, SEN Resource provision. Long-term full-time contract.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Widnes-based secondary school as they are looking to recruit several motivated and experienced teaching assistants to support pupils with SEN within their resource provision. This is a long-term full-time contract.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with SEN within the KS3 and KS4 resource bases. Typically, you will support ASD, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome and non-verbal. You will work under the instruction of the class teacher to offer a safe, stimulating and engaging learning environment for all pupils by utilising an array of learning equipment and effectively managing behaviours. You will aid in implementing a myriad of positive behaviour techniques, including reward charts and positive behaviour reinforcement to promote behaviours. In the event that behaviours do escalate, you will ensure that this happens in a safe environment by utilising a sensory room or removing the pupil(s) from a triggering environment. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects and liaise with the class teacher to ensure that all sessions are in line with attainment needs.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children and young people with complex and profound needs, as well as:

  • The ability to hold intervention and booster sessions in core subjects such as Maths and English
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant as well as a wide range of benefits which include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Company pension scheme
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
