Senior Residential Support Worker needed in Cannock

Your new company

This is a large, national company with children's homes across the UK, with a large proportion of homes being within the West Midlands and surrounding areas. The company has both EBD and LD homes, with opportunities to move across to different homes if you are looking for opportunities to grow in other areas.

The particular home that is recruiting at the moment is a 2 bed EBD home located in Cannock. The existing team is a supportive and diverse team which is overseen by a Registered Manager who has worked their way up within the business, originally starting at the company as a support worker. The company values their staff and their ambitions to develop both professionally and personally. The service believes that it is vital that all children benefit from a nurturing and therapeutic environment which allows their young people the opportunity to lead holistic lifestyles.

Your new role

You will be working within a 2-bed EBD home on a 2 on 4 off shift rotation. As a senior support worker, you will be supporting the team and leading by example.
Your main role as a support worker will be ensuring the safety and comfort of the young people in your care. You will be working within a children's home, so as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage the young people to have confidence and high self-esteem, but most importantly for them to have fun.
You will be working with young people from a variety of backgrounds, with some having experienced trauma in the past. With this, behaviour can be challenging and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role.
This is a temporary to permanent role, where you will become a permanent staff member after 13 weeks.
