Providing expert tax guidance and advocating for policy improvements. Remote role.
We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious professional body dedicated to improving the tax system for low-income individuals and small businesses. We are looking for skilled Technical Officers to join their team and contribute to meaningful tax policy reforms. This role does not involve casework or time-sheeting and will offer a high degree of work-life balance and flexibility.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance on tax issues affecting low-income individuals and small businesses.
- Analyse and interpret tax legislation.
- Advocate for improvements in tax policies.
- Engage in policy work with HMRC, including verbal and written responses and meetings with senior officials.
Positions Available:
- One role focused on Personal Taxation
- One role focused on Small Business Taxation (e.g., Making Tax Digital)
Salary and Benefits:
- £77,953.08 FTE (pro-rated for part-time role)
- Open to candidates seeking 28 hours or 35 hours. Can also consider compressed hours, such as 5 days in 4
- 9% employer pension contribution

- Generous annual leave

Location: Remote, with occasional office days in London
Ideal candidates will have experience in both compliance and advisory, with expertise in Personal Taxation (including self-assessment) or Small Business Taxation (including limited company knowledge and Making Tax Digital). We also welcome candidates who have trained in practice and now run their own small tax advisory firm.
