Scala Developer Contract Opportunity

Your new company

You will be working with one of the largest global Tech consultancies, who are very reputable within the consultancy world with hundreds of key accounts within both the private and public sectors.

This particular role will be working with one of their end clients that sit within the UK Government, this is one of the smaller branches of Government who are continuously growing their digital footprint due to the services they provide.

This particular role will be working remotely - on a 3-6 month contract with potential further extensions.

Your new role

Our client is currently undertaking a platform migration / upgrade and software/application/technologies version upgrade. They are looking for an individual with in-depth Play Framework / Scala experience to help us move from version 2.4 to either 2.8 or 2.9.

They need resource who has undertaken this activity before, is able to troubleshoot and diagnose and resolve issues that occur due to the change in functionality & technology for example because the vendor has deprecated functionality between versions and therefore a new approach is required to be implemented to get the solution to work within the latest code set. The resource will probably need to be able to redevelop the existing (or parts of) code too. Ideally the resource would also have undertaken a migration from a Fuse Fabric environment to work on OpenShift infrastructure too which is what they will ultimately be migrating too.

What you'll need to succeed

• Deep Play framework experience, including but not limited to, upgrading to major / minor releases;
• Scala coding experience;
• Working with an OpenShift environment – Highly desirable;
• Working within a Linux O/S environment;
• Mentoring & training – upskilling of team members;
• Understanding and working experience of support teams and the issues faced;
• Experience of working with DevOps tooling such as Ansible, Jenkins, Github, Jira.
