PUBLIC SECTOR LEGAL JOBS FAQs

Public sector salaries can vary greatly, depending on your seniority, legal experience and the organisation you work for.

A legal advisor working in London could expect to earn roughly £45,000 a year. A head of legal working for an organisation in the public sector could earn between £60,000-£120,000.

Hiring plans remain strong for legal professionals and there is currently a shortage of in-demand legal skills. And with many organisations paying greater attention to funding, environmental, social and governance considerations, there are many opportunities for skilled legal professionals.

Consult our Salary Guide for an in-depth look at the current legal market.

However, support for a four-day week is certainly growing, and organisations looking to retain their best professionals – and bolster staff wellbeing – may potentially offer trial periods in the future. Watch this space.
