CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE JOBS FAQs

There are lots of upskilling options in customer experience. If you already work in marketing, consider asking your employer if there are any customer experience responsibilities you could assist with and any training you could receive.

Regarding more formal training, there are a range of customer experience orientated marketing courses and degrees that you might wish to consider. More specifically, the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) offers a two-day Customer Experience Management course where you develop your understanding of the best practices, tools and techniques currently used.

While this will depend on factors such as expertise and location, our salary guide can offer some helpful context.

A customer insight analyst could see an annual salary of around £30,000-£55,000 a year, with this rising to £80,000 for managerial equivalents.

While technical skills are highly desirable for those working alongside the customer experience journey – such as those relating to data – certain soft skills are just as important. This includes possessing a strong emotional intelligence, understanding how your customer interact with your product or service and how their experience can be heightened.

Read our Salary Guide to find out what skills marketing employers are most interested in.

Different organisations will have their own structures and naming conventions, but common customer experience titles include: customer service assistant, CRM analyst, customer service manager, customer insight analyst, or director of client services.

As with many positions operating in the boundaries of marketing and tech, some responsibilities relating to these roles may cross over.
