ARCHITECTURE JOBS FAQs
This will of course depend on your location, expertise and employer, but as a recently qualified architect you can expect to earn £30,000-£40,000. Senior architects can see salaries as high as £60,000, whilst a partner or director at an architectural firm could be paid £100,000 or more.
Architectural firms employ a range of different professionals, not just architects. Technologists are needed, to turn designs into sustainable constructions, and also BIM managers, who are responsible for implementing Building Information Modelling. Other members of the team include interior designers, space planners and design managers.
Qualifying as an architect usually requires five years study at university and two years worth of practical experience. However, you can also study whilst working in architectural practice through RIBA, as well as through a recently introduced apprenticeship.
